The one with the New Year at New York

Finally experienced a Times Square New Year, after braving temperatures of -6°C (-16°C accounting for wind chill) for over five hours. Ved ditched me at about an hour before midnight, so I ended up cheering on alone. (The huge Toshiba screen announced “Cheer if you’re cold! Louder if you’re frozen!”)

Anyway, this is one those events that you should experience once in your lifetime: exactly once, I don’t think you would want to try it a second time.

Also, I ended up staring at the countdown on the Toshiba screen, and so didn’t actually look at the Ball dropping! Five hours in the cold, and I didn’t look at the ball! Oh well.

I wanted to write a 2009 edition of Resolutions, but couldn’t think of anything practical and interesting at the same time. I can think of “Graduate” …

The Crowd ... those lights in the distance is Times Square.

If your 2009 resolution is to “Graduate”, you’re doing pretty well.
